✓ What We Like

  • ✓ Unified Talent Lifecycle. Seamless flow from candidate -> new hire -> employee performance. Data actually transfers.
  • ✓ Strong ATS. Started as recruiting software, and it shows. Text recruiting, video interviews, and solid pipelines.
  • ✓ Mission Alignment. Unique focus on connecting every role and goal to company vision. Great for culture-building.
  • ✓ Paperless Onboarding. Device-friendly, compliant forms, and automated provisioning tasks.
  • ✓ Excellent Support. Consistently rated high for customer service and implementation help.

✗ What Could Be Better

  • ✗ Not a full Core HRIS. Can do basic employee records, but often needs to pair with ADP/Paylocity for heavy lifting.
  • ✗ Payroll is weak. They partner for payroll rather than owning a robust native engine.
  • ✗ Reporting learning curve. Analytics are powerful but creating custom reports takes practice.
  • ✗ Mobile app limitations. Functional, but not as sleek or feature-rich as competitors like Rippling.

Our Full Review

ClearCompany is a standout in the "Talent Management" space. While many platforms start as payroll systems and bolt on an ATS, ClearCompany started with recruiting and talent alignment.

The result is a platform that feels much more human-centric. It shines where it matters most: hiring great people, onboarding them effectively, and ensuring they know how their work contributes to the company's success. For mid-market companies (50-2,000 employees) that prioritize talent density over administrative compliance, ClearCompany is a strong contender.

The "Talent Maximization" Philosophy

ClearCompany’s secret sauce is its "Talent Success" methodology. Every module is built around the idea of Mission Alignment:

It creates a "golden thread" connecting a job opening to an employee's annual review. Most competitors treat these as siloed events; ClearCompany treats them as a continuum.

Applicant Tracking System (ATS)

This is the core of the platform and it is excellent. Features include:

For an internal HR team, this replaces the need for standalone tools like Greenhouse or Lever, offering 90% of the functionality at a lower total cost when bundled.

Onboarding

The transition from "Candidate" to "Employee" is seamless because the data already exists. No re-keying info.

Performance & Engagement

Performance management in ClearCompany is robust and flexible:

The "Goal Alignment" visualizer is a C-suite favorite—it literally draws lines showing who is working on what strategic initiative.

What About Core HR & Payroll?

This is the caveat. ClearCompany has a Core HR module and offers payroll, but it is not their historic strength.

Many clients use ClearCompany for the "Talent" layer (ATS, Onboarding, Performance) and integrate it with a heavy-duty payroll engine like ADP Workforce Now or Paylocity. The integrations are generally stable and bi-directional.

If you are looking for a single system where Payroll is the #1 priority, this might not be the primary choice. But if Talent is #1, this is superior to the add-on modules from most payroll providers.

Reporting & Analytics

The "People Analytics" module provides:

The pre-built reports are great. Custom reporting is powerful but has a steep learning curve compared to the rest of the intuitive interface.

Pricing (Estimated)

ClearCompany uses custom quote-based pricing depending on module selection (Recruiting, Onboarding, Performance, Analytics). Generally:

While not "cheap," it is competitively priced against buying separate "Best of Breed" solutions (e.g., Greenhouse + Lattice + Sapling).

Verdict

ClearCompany is the ideal choice for mid-sized organizations that have outgrown "all-in-one" SMB tools (like Gusto) but want a talent-first focus that enterprise ERPs (like Oracle) kill with complexity.

It allows HR teams to stop being "Form Fillers" and start being "Talent Architects." If your CEO constantly talks about "A-Players" and "Mission Alignment," this software operationalizes that philosophy perfectly.
